Important names for ball bearings and accessories
- The suffix N stands for: 1. Annular groove in the jacket of the outer ring, 2. For INA radial insert ball bearing housings: cast housing with groove recess for protective caps. Type N cylindrical roller bearings have two fixed ribs on the inner ring and an outer ring without ribs. They allow axial displacements in both directions between the shaft and the housing, i. H. the unconstrained length expansion compensation within the bearing within certain limits and are therefore used as floating bearings.

Clamping housing units
There are many designs of flanged housing units; there are two-hole, three-hole and four-hole housings, oval, triangular, round and square housing shapes. Most of the flanged housings are made of gray cast iron, cast steel, nodular cast iron, but also sheet steel. Flange bearing housings are suitable for installing self-aligning ball bearings, spherical roller bearings and spherical roller bearings with a tapered bore, which are fastened to the shaft with adapter sleeves. The radial insert bearings installed in flanged housings are often sealed on both sides, thus protecting them from various influences such as dust, dirt and splash water.
