Inner rings are made of hardened roller bearing steel and have finely machined or ground raceways. They are used when the shaft cannot be used as a raceway for needle roller and cage assemblies, needle sleeves, needle bushes and needle bearings. Needle bearings have to be combined with wider inner rings in order to allow greater axial displacements of the shaft relative to the housing, optimal running surfaces for the sealing lips are necessary. Inner ring with finely machined raceway: the raceway of the inner rings IR is finely machined. Chamfers on the end faces enable easy insertion into the bearings and prevent the bearing sealing lips from being damaged. The inner rings are available with and without a lubrication hole. Rings with a lubrication hole have the suffix IS1.
Inner ring with ground raceway: The raceway of the LR inner rings is ground. The faces are turned, the edges are broken. These rings have wider tolerances than the IR rings. They are therefore suitable for applications that allow greater tolerances in width and less stringent axial run-out requirements. In applications where seal wear and shaft damage are expected, we recommend ring assembly prior to machine start-up. If the ring is already installed during assembly, reworking of the shaft can be avoided and the original seal can be used as a replacement. In our ball bearing shop you can buy inner rings from premium manufacturers INA or SKF.
