Important names for ball bearings and accessories
- The suffix N stands for: 1. Annular groove in the jacket of the outer ring, 2. For INA radial insert ball bearing housings: cast housing with groove recess for protective caps. Type N cylindrical roller bearings have two fixed ribs on the inner ring and an outer ring without ribs. They allow axial displacements in both directions between the shaft and the housing, i. H. the unconstrained length expansion compensation within the bearing within certain limits and are therefore used as floating bearings.

Plummer block housings have a long or short base. Plummer block housings with a long base are bolted to the adjacent construction through slotted holes, housings with a short base through blind tapped holes.
Pillow block housings are a new generation of the most popular bearing housings in the SNL pillow block housing market. The upgrade has given the housing several new properties and a more robust material, making it consistently reliable even with increasing requirements. The various available housing variants and seal designs often make the production of tailor-made housings superfluous and are therefore particularly inexpensive. The new, optimized design of the SE plummer block housing, in combination with the improved material quality, is considerably more robust than the SNL housing. The breaking loads are also higher in some directions. With larger ridges in the base and additional material around the mounting screw holes and in the center of the base, the SE cases are more rigid than their predecessors. The preload forces of the fastening screws ensure a secure form fit with the clamping surface. Excessive tightening torque cannot deform the foot and thus the housing.

If you need other housings or housing designs, please contact us. The bearing housings are mainly made of gray cast iron. We supply housings made of cast steel and nodular cast iron on request. Since the bearings are usually lubricated with grease and the initial filling lasts a long time, most housings do not have any relubrication holes. However, sprues or markings are provided so that lubrication holes can be made if necessary. When relubricating, make sure that excess grease can escape.
