Spindle bearings
Spindle bearings are single-row angular contact ball bearings consisting of solid outer and inner rings and ball and cage assemblies with solid window cages. They are open and sealed. The bearings have tight tolerances and cannot be dismantled. They are particularly suitable for bearings with the highest demands on guidance accuracy and high speeds. They have proven their worth for supporting the main spindles in machine tools. That is why spindle bearings are installed in CNC lathes, the best-known CNC lathes or milling machines would be Maho, Gildemeister, Hurco, Chiron, Deckel, Iberimex, Datron, Hermle. In addition to radial forces, spindle bearings can also absorb axial forces in one direction. Bearings used in an O or X arrangement absorb axial forces in both directions and moments. Bearings in a tandem arrangement can only carry axial loads in one direction. Spindle bearings are available with a contact angle of a = 15° (suffix C) or a = 25° (suffix E). Standard spindle bearings B70, B719 and B72 have steel balls. High speed spindle bearings HSS70 and HSS719 have smaller steel balls. Universal designs can be installed in any arrangement or combined into different kits without sacrificing performance. The position of the pressure cone is marked on the outside surface of the outer ring. Bearings with the suffix UL are designed for light preload in an X or O arrangement. The bearings are suitable for operating temperatures from -30 °C to +100 °C, limited by the seal or cage material! The standard grease of the sealed spindle bearings is suitable up to a permanent temperature of +80 °C! These bearings have solid window cages made from laminated fabric (suffix T). Check the chemical resistance of the seal or cage material in the case of synthetic lubricating greases and lubricants with EP additives! Aged oil and additives contained in the oil can impair the service life of the cages and seals at higher temperatures! Be sure to observe the oil change intervals!
